Step 1: Free on-site consultation
We visit your property, assess soil conditions, evaluate available space, review sun exposure, and discuss your goals for the planting. What kind of shade do you want? Are you screening a view? Do you want fruit or nuts? Do you have HOA restrictions?
Step 2: Species recommendation
Based on the consultation, we recommend species that fit your goals and Katy’s growing conditions. We do not upsell homeowners on trees that won’t thrive here.
Step 3: Written estimate
You receive a detailed written quote covering the tree, planting service, soil amendments if needed, mulching, and any add-on services like sod installation around the new tree.
Step 4: Utility mark and site prep
We call 811 to mark underground utilities before any digging. Any soil amendments or grading happen before the tree arrives.
Step 5: Proper planting
Tree planting depth matters more than most homeowners realize. We plant the root flare at grade (not buried), use appropriate hole size, backfill with existing soil (not amended soil), and water thoroughly.
Step 6: Mulching and staking
Proper mulch depth and coverage, plus staking if the tree requires it. Most trees benefit from stakes for the first 12 to 18 months.
Step 7: Establishment guidance
We provide detailed watering instructions and follow-up care guidance for the critical first two years. Most new tree deaths happen in year one from improper watering.
